Final Project

For this final project I was able to explore the possibilities of Soundslides. I was at first hesitant to use Soundsides for this project, but i now enjoy its simplicity. This program allows its user to upload photos and sound seamlessly to the internet. If I could do this project again  I would use fewer pictures and work on my voiceover more. I didn't realize that by using so many photos I would slow down the video output of my diary once embedded within my blog. Soundslides is a great application that I will definitely use in the future.

Modest Mouse Powerpoint Presentation

This presentation was lots of fun. I enjoyed making a kiosk powerpoint on my favorite band. If I were to do this project again I would eliminate the wood floor background and try to incorporate the yellow from the title screen throughout. Another thing i would eliminate are the pointless bullets that are found on some of the slides.

QuarkXPress

For this project I used a a picture from ModestMouse.com and cloned the background to fit the tabloid scale paper. I chose this particular picture because I thought the yellow background was grabbing to the eye and the placement of the band members fits perfectly into the bottom of the poster. The use of helvetica font fits the bands style very well. I tried to make the poster as much like a real modest mouse poster i could. I feel like this poster would grab attention if walking past it on campus. I've told who is hosting the event, where the event is being held,  and how much the event will cost .

Modest Mouse Power Point

I enjoy making Power Point presentations. In this project I tried to use as much of my own photography as possible for the backgrounds. Making my presentation run smoothly with the music was tedious and the hardest part of the entire process. If I could do this project again I would try an use more photoshop and illustrator with my fonts and pictures.

Contact Sheet

Row #1
The photograph I chose for this row illustrates the usage of dpi. For each picture I set the resolution in photo shop, and sized them to 1"x 1.33." I feel that the photo I chose gets much clearer as you move from 72dpi-1200dpi. The 72dpi file is very pixelated and the 1200dpi file is so clear that you can see strands in the guitarists hair.

Row #2

In this row I Formated my image to show how photoshop can manipulate an image. By going to "Image" and then "adjustments" you can make your photo Black and white and duo tone. To change my photos to RGB and CMYK I went to "Image" and then "modes" and then selected the mode I wanted. The deep tones in CMYK stand out against the RGB.

Row #3
To show orientation I selected a photo that looks very different when put into different crop sizes. In order to change your photo from landscape, portrait, and square you must go to image size and type in the correct dimensions.

Row #4
The photo I chose for this row works well because it has a very deep depth of field. I was able to crop at any size and keep it in tight resolution.

Row #5
In order to show abstraction I chose a picture i took of a mailbox in New York City. This photo allows for abstraction through cropping. The abstract shot is barely recognizable but the journalistic shot is clearly a mailbox.

Row# 6
This row called for the usage of photoshop filters to alter our original image. Each shot is clearly the same image but with different artistic filters added over the image.

Font Poem

1. Choosing a favorite poem\ saying was not an easy task. The last stanza in Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tamborine Man” was a great choice for this project because not only is it one of my favorite songs ever written, it puts an image in my head of being out on my own getting away from everything.

2. Fonts Used-Helvetica (True Type),Handwriting(Dakota), Bookman (old style), Monaco CE, Century Gothic, Harrington
I feel that the fonts used in this project reflect the sound of Bob Dylan’s music and raspy voice. I used fonts like Helvetica, Bookman Old Style, and Century gothic, to represent the strait forward message of his words. Fonts like Handwriting Dakota, Harrington and Monaco CE show is raspy voice. In a way I feel like Dylan’s lyrics sound handwritten.

3. I arranged my font poem to look like a log cabin. I chose a log cabin because the lyrics of “Mr. Tambourine Man” make me want to go out to a cabin the woods and get “far from the reach of crazy sorrow.”

4. The only real problem I had with my poem was lack of lyrics. I would have liked to make an entire scene of just text.

5. My favorite moments in my final project are the roof and right side of the cabin. The fonts I chose in those areas are really aesthetically pleasing, and the angles of the fonts flow really well together.
